Abstract: Promosi jabatan adalah peningkatan jabatan dari jabatan sebelumnya ke jabatan yang lebih tinggi, dengan wewenang, kekuasaan, dan tanggung jawab yang lebih besar dari jabatan sebelumnya, sementara kepuasan kerja merupakan sikap emosional individu baik positif maupun negatif terhadap pekerjaannya yang dicerminkan dalam moral kerja, kedisiplinan dan prestasi kerja karyawan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan promosi jabatan terhadap kepuasan kerja pada karyawan tetap PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Divisi Regional I Sumatera Utara. Tipe penelitan yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif korelasional dengan teknik total sampling. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 109 karyawan tetap dengan kriteria karyawan tetap yang bertugas sebagai PPKA (Pengatur Perjalanan Kereta Api). Alat ukur yang digunakan yakni skala promosi jabatan yang disusun berdasarkan indikator-indikator menurut Mualimah dan Yusuf (2022), dan skala kepuasan kerja yang disusun berdasarkan aspek-aspek menurut Schermerhorn dalam Hanafi, dkk (2022). Hipotesis dari penelitian ini diterima artinya ada hubungan promosi jabatan dengan kepuasan kerja. Hasil ini diketahui dengan melihat mean hipotetik kepuasan kerja 72,5 dan promosi jabatan 105 kemudian mean empirik kepuasan kerja 87,54 dan promosi jabatan 124,84. Hasil analisis menggunakan product moment dengan nilai koefisien korelasinya 0,953 signifikansi p = 0,000<0,050, dengan bobot sumbangan 95,3%, masih terdapat 4,7% pengaruh dari faktor lain yaitu pekerjaan itu sendiri, pengawas, rekan kerja, dan gaji Promotion is an increase in position from the previous position to higher position with authority, power and greater responsibility than the previous position, job satisfaction is an individual’s emotional attitude, both positive and negative, towards his work, which is reflected in disciplined working capital and employee performance. This study aims to see the correlation of promotion to the job satisfaction for permanent employees of PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero)Regional Division I North Sumatera. The type of research used is quantitative correlation with total sampling technique. The research sample was 109 permanent employees with the criteria of a permanent employee who is in chrge of controlling train travel. The measuring instrument used is the job promotion scale which is based on indicators according to Mualimah dan Yusuf (2022), and job satisfaction scale which is based on aspects according to Schermerhorn in Hanafi, dkk (2022). The hypothesis of this study is accepted, meaning that there is a correlation between promotion and job satisfaction. This results is known by looking at the hypothetical mean of job satisfaction 72,5 and promotion 105 then the empirical mean for job satisfaction is 87,54 and promotion is 124,84. The value or coefficient where the coefficient is 0,953 with a significance of p = 0,000 < 0,050, with a contribution weight of 95,3%. From these results, it is known that there are still 4,7% influence from other factors. The other factors are the job itself, supervisor, work colleague, and wages.
