This research aims to determine the type of insect diversity in the former nest of Sumatran orangutans (Pongo abelii L.) in the Halaban Restoration area of Gunung Leuser National Park. This research uses a descriptive method with an exploration method, namely surrounding the restoration area. The results of the research show that the diversity of insects in the former Sumatran orangutan nest in the Halaban Restoration area has medium and low diversity. In the 1st nest the figure obtained was 1,99 based on the calculation of the Shannon Wiener diversity index, indicating that insect diversity was relatively low. The second nest figure obtained was 2,19 based on the Shannon Wiener diversity index, including the medium insect diversity category. The largest number of orders is found in the order Coleoptera with 7 types of insects and Hymenoptera with 7 types of insects. The lowest number of orders is found in the order Dermaptera with 1 type of insect and Lepidoptera with 1 type of insect. Another type of organism found in the former nest of the Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii L.) is the Arachnida class with 6 types.
