This research aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence on learning motivation among students at SMAN 13 Medan. This research method using correlational quantitative methods. The population of this research is students class XI IPS at SMA Negeri 13 Medan as many as 72 people. Sampling technique using purposive sampling. The research sample was 72 class students XI IPS at SMA Negeri 13 Medan. The data analysis method used in this research is the Pearson product moment. Based on the calculation of r product correlation analysis moment, it can be seen that there is a positive relationship between emotional intelligence with motivation to learn. This result is proven by the correlation coefficient rxy = 0.606, with Significant p= 0.000 < 0.01. These results indicate a hypothesis which states that the relationship between emotional intelligence and learning motivation is acceptable. Research result shows that emotional intelligence influences student motivation in public high schools 13 Terrain. This research shows that the effective contribution obtained is equal to 36.7% and the remaining 63.3% was influenced by other factors not included in this research. These results indicate that the higher emotional intelligence the higher the motivation to learn, conversely the lower the intelligence emotional, the lower the motivation to learn. From the results of this analysis it is known emotional intelligence is classified as high (empirical mean = 55.08 < hypothetical mean = 45) Likewise, learning motivation is classified as high (empirical mean = 58.81 < hypothetical mean = 45).
