Restorative Justice is a new approach model in the process of resolving criminal cases. The resolution of cases through Restorative Justice focuses on the direct involvement of the perpetrator, victim, and community in the settlement of criminal offenses. The application of restorative justice can be implemented in minor criminal offenses, such as minor assault. The purpose of this study was to examine the legal framework of restorative justice, the settlement of minor assault cases through restorative justice, and the challenges faced by the Mardingding Police Sector in implementing restorative justice. The research method used was Normative-Empirical. The results of this study indicated that the implementation of restorative justice in minor assault cases was guided by Police Regulation No. 8 of 2021 concerning the Settlement of Criminal Cases Based on Restorative Justice. The settlement of cases could be carried out if formal and material conditions were met. Obstacles in the implementation of restorative justice included the failure to reach an agreement on compensation, the existence of prior issues, and dissatisfaction with the restorative justice system. The challenges that arose in the settlement of cases through restorative justice presented a significant task for the police to find solutions so that restorative justice could be used as an alternative dispute resolution method that provided justice and benefits to all parties involved.en_US
