This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Lactobacillus casei in inhibiting the growth of Helicobacter pylori. The method used is the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion test with two bacterial densities: Lactobacillus casei at 10⁵ CFU/mL and 10⁸ CFU/mL, along with a positive control (antibiotic) and a negative control. The results showed an average inhibition zone of 10.3 mm at 10⁵ CFU/mL, 18.3 mm at 10⁸ CFU/mL, and 25 mm for the positive control, while the negative control produced no inhibition zone. Lactobacillus casei inhibits Helicobacter pylori growth through the production of bacteriocins (laktosin and caseicin), lactic acid, and adhesion competition. Based on the inhibition zone data from this study, Lactobacillus casei demonstrates potential as an inhibitory agent against Helicobacter pylori growth. |
