dc.description.abstractPeningkatan kebutuhan energi dan terbatasnya bahan bakar fosil mendorong pemanfaatan energi terbarukan, salah satunya energi angin. Indonesia, dengan potensi wilayah pesisir yang luas, memiliki peluang besar untuk mengembangkan pembangkit listrik tenaga angin. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Sigara-gara, Kecamatan Patumbak, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Sumatera Utara, yang memiliki kecepatan angin rendah. Penelitian ini menguji prototipe VAWT secara eksperimental dalam kondisi angin rendah. Alat-alat seperti anemometer dan thakometer digunakan untuk mengukur kecepatan angin dan putaran turbin. Bahanbahan seperti generator dan blower juga digunakan dalam pengujian prototipe. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, pada Dimmer 5 dengan kecepatan angin maksimal yaitu 9,7 m/s akan menghasilkan putaran sudu turbin sebesar 102,8 rpm dan pada Dimmer 1 dengan kecepatan angin minimal yaitu 4,4 m/s akan menghasilkan putaran sudu turbin sebesar 38,9 rpm. Diperoleh nilai rata-rata efisiensi turbin angin tertinggi yaitu pada Dimmer 5 sebesar 0,033% dan terendah yaitu pada Dimmer 1 sebesar 0,012%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa semakin tinggi kecepatan angin, maka semakin tinggi efisiensi turbin angin yang diperoleh. Sehingga, Turbin Angin Sumbu Vertikal (VAWT) sangat tepat digunakan di Desa Sigara-gara sebagai pembangkit listrik tenaga angin. Increasing energy demand and limited fossil fuels are driving the use of renewable energy, one of which is wind energy. Indonesia, with its vast coastal areas, offers significant potential for developing wind power plants. This research was conducted in Sigara-gara Village, Patumbak District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, which has low wind speeds. This study experimentally tested a VAWT prototype under low wind conditions. Instruments such as an anemometer and a thakometer were used to measure wind speed and turbine rotation. Materials such as a generator and blower were also used in the prototype testing. Based on the research results, Dimmer 5, with a maximum wind speed of 9.7 m/s, produced a turbine blade rotation of 102.8 rpm, and Dimmer 1, with a minimum wind speed of 4.4 m/s, produced a turbine blade rotation of 38.9 rpm. The highest average wind turbine efficiency was obtained for Dimmer 5 at 0.033%, and the lowest for Dimmer 1 at 0.012%. It can be concluded that the higher the wind speed, the higher the wind turbine efficiency. Therefore, the Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) is highly suitable for use in Sigara-gara Village as a wind power generator.en_US
