Owen Shoes is a home industry engaged in the production of pantofel shoes. In its production activities, the company often faces challenges in planning raw material requirements, which frequently leads to either excess or shortage of materials. This condition hampers the production process and increases storage costs. This study aims to analyze the raw material requirements for pantofel shoes using the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) method in order to determine the appropriate and efficient material quantities. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach, beginning with demand forecasting using the two-period Moving Average method, which yields the lowest MAPE value of 6.43%. The forecasting results are then used to develop a Master Production Schedule (MPS) as the basis for MRP calculations. The calculation is conducted using two approaches: Fixed Order Quantity (FOQ) and Period Order Quantity (POQ). Among the two methods, the analysis shows that the FOQ method results in the lowest total material planning cost, amounting to IDR Rp 9.797.400, compared to the POQ method at IDR Rp 30.834.900. Thus, FOQ is considered the most efficient method for material planning at Owen Shoes. |
