This study aims to describe the work-life balance of female nurses working at Mental Hospital X. The background of this research is based on the importance of understanding the balance between work and personal life among married women, particularly those serving as nurses in a mental hospital setting. This study employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, involving a total sample of five respondents. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, guided by an interview protocol developed based on the aspects of work-life balance proposed by Fisher, Bulger, & Smith (2009). The findings reveal that personal life and work-related matters are two distinct domains that cannot be merged, yet each holds its own priority. All nurses reported difficulties in their personal lives due to the shift work system. Although they strive to remain professional, the divided attention between work and home leads to decreased job performance and increased psychological strain. |
