Abstract: Kota Medan sebagai salah satu kota metropolitan di Indonesia menghadapi berbagai permasalahan perkotaan, salah satunya adalah genangan air yang kerap terjadi di beberapa kawasan saat musim huja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas sistem drainase perkotaan dalam menangani genangan air dikawasan Kelurahan Sari Rejo, Kecamatan Medan Selayang, Kota Medan. Permasalahan genangan yang terjadi di wilayah ini diduga disebabkan oleh kapasitas saluran drainase yang tidak memadai dalam menampung debit air hujan. Melalui pendekatan survei lapangan dan analisa hidrologi dilakukan analisis terhadap kondisi eksisting serta simulasi terhadap sistem drainase yang ideal. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa debit puncak banjir rencana untuk periode ulang 5 tahun adalah sebesar 2,479 m3/detik dan untuk periode ulang 10 tahun sebesar 2,946 m3/detik, dengan waktu konsentrasi sebesar 9,598 menit (0,159 jam). Berdasarkan perbandingan antara kapasitas saluran eksisting dan debit banjir rencana, diketahui bahwa sistem drainase yang ada saat ini tidak mampu menampung debit tersebut. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan perencanaan ulang sistem saluran drainase agar mampu mengurangi resiko genangan secara optimal di kawasan penelitian. Medan, as one of Indonesia's metropolitan cities, faces various urban problems, one of which is waterlogging, which frequently occurs in several areas during the rainy season. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the urban drainage system in addressing waterlogging in the Sari Rejo Village, Medan Selayang District, Medan City. The flooding problem in this area is suspected to be caused by the inadequate capacity of the drainage channels to accommodate rainwater discharge. Through field surveys and hydrological analysis, an analysis of existing conditions and simulations of an ideal drainage system were conducted. The simulation results indicate that the peak design flood discharge for a 5-year return period is 2,479 m3/second and for a 10-year return period is 2,946 m3/second, with a concentration time of 9.598 minutes (0.159 hours). Based on a comparison between the existing channel capacity and the design flood discharge, it is known that the current drainage system is unable to accommodate these discharges. Therefore, a redesign of the drainage system is necessary to optimally reduce the risk of flooding in the study area.
