This study aims to analyze the communication strategies and challenges faced by Sanggar Tari Sri Indera Ratu in enhancing its existence as a preserver of Malay culture in Medan City. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the leader, coach, members, clients, and local artists. The findings indicate that the communication strategies implemented include internal regeneration through family-based succession, utilization of social media, cultural value transmission through training, and collaboration with the management of Istana Maimun. These strategies reflect Fawkes & Gregory’s (2021) theory of strategic communication, which emphasizes structured, participatory, and relationship-oriented communication. The challenges encountered include competition with newer studios, shifting preferences among younger generations, limited digital promotion, and public perceptions of high service fees. The existence theory (Solomon, Govers & Go) supports the notion that sustaining local culture requires adaptive and strategic communication. With the right approach, Sanggar Tari Sri Indera Ratu continues to maintain its existence amid the currents of modernization and globalization.en_US
