| Abstract: | UMKM Opung Panjaitan menghasilkan limbah kulit bawang putih dalam jumlah cukup besar sebagai hasil dari kegiatan pengupasan bawang putih. Limbah tesrsebut selama ini belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal dan berpotensi mencemari lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan limbah kulit bawang putih sebagai biopestisida nabati serta menentukan alternatif formulasi terbaik menggunakan metode Value Engineering (VE) yang diterapkan melalui beberapa tahapan yaitu tahap informasi, tahap kreatif, tahap analisis dan tahap rekomendasi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian terapan dengan pendekatan eksperimen lapangan. Limbah kulit bawang putih difermentasi menjadi biopestisida nabati dengan beberapa variasi konsentrasi, kemudian diuji efektivitasnya terhadappenurunan jumlah hama pada tanaman cabai sebagai objek pengamatan. Analisis VE dilakukan dengan mempertimbangkan aspek fungsi dan biaya untuk memperoleh alternatif mana yang paling tepat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa biopestisida nabati dari kulit bawang putih mampu menurunkan populasi hama pada tanaman cabai dalam waktu sekitar 4 hari setelah aplikasi tanpa menimbulkan kerusakan pada tanaman. Berdasarkan analisis Value Engineering didapatkan alternatif yang tepat dengan, formulasi konsentrasi 15% dan penambahan EM4 merupakan alternatif terbaik karena memiliki efektivitas yang stabil, proses fermentasi yang lebih cepat, serta biaya produksi yang relatif rendah. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan limbah kulit bawang putih dapat menjadi solusi pengelolaan limbah UMKM yang ramah lingkungan dan bernilai ekonomis. UMKM Opung Panjaitan generates a large amount of garlic peel waste as a result of garlic peeling activities. This waste has not been optimally utilized and has the potential to cause environmental pollution. This study aims to utilize garlic peel waste as a plant-based biopesticide and to determine the best formulation alternative using the Value Engineering (VE) method, which is applied through several stages, namely the information stage, creative stage, analysis stage, and recommendation stage. This research is an applied study using a field experimental approach. Garlic peel waste was fermented into a plant-based biopesticide with several concentration variations an d then tested for its effectiveness in reducing pest populations on chili plants as the object of observation. The VE analysis was conducted by considering functional and cost aspects to determine the most appropriate alternative.The results show that the garlic peel-based biopesticide was able to reduce pest populations on chili plants within approximately four days after application without causing damage to the plants. Based on the Value Engineering analysis, the most appropriate alternative was the formulation with a 15% concentration and the addition of EM4, as it provided stable effectiveness, a faster fermentation process, and relatively low production costs. This study indicates that the utilization of garlic peel waste can serve as an environmentally friendly and economically valuable waste management solution for UMKM. |
