| Abstract: | Tanaman kelapa sawit merupakan salah satu jenis tanaman perkebunan yang memiliki komposisi material organik yang tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pemananfaatan tandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKKS) sebagai bahan baku pembuatan pupuk organik. Tingginya jumlah limbah TKKS yang selama ini hanya ditumpuk tanpa pengolahan lanjutan, sehingga belum memberikan nilai tambah secara ekonomi maupun manfaat bagi lingkungan. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dengan tahapan value engineering, meliputi tahap informasi, kreatif, analisis, dan rekomendasi. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, serta pengolahan laboratorium untuk uji kualitas pupuk organik. Sampel penelitian menggunakan 3 kg TKKS yang dicampur dengan bahan pendukung berupa kotoran kambing, serat fiber, abu pembakaran, dan aktivator EM-4. Proses pembuatan meliputi pencacahan, pencampuran, fermentasi, serta pematangan sebelum dilakukan uji kandungan unsur hara makro. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pupuk organik dari TKKS memiliki kandungan Nitrogen (N), Fosfor (P₂O₅), dan Kalium (K₂O) yang masih belum sesuai dengan standar SNI 2830-2024. Analisis value engineering menghasilkan alternatif terbaik dengan komposisi lengkap (TKKS, kotoran kambing, serat fiber, abu boiler, dan EM-4), yang tidak hanya efisien dari sisi biaya, tetapi juga mampu menghadirkan keseimbangan unsur hara. Dengan demikian, pemanfaatan TKKS dapat memberikan nilai tambah sebagai pupuk organik berkualitas sekaligus mengurangi dampak limbah industri kelapa sawit. Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) is one of the major plantation crops that contains a high level of organic material. This study aims to examine the utilization of empty fruit bunches (EFB) from oil palm as a raw material for producing organic fertilizer. The large quantity of EFB waste that is usually piled up without further processing has not yet provided economic value or environmental benefits. The research method employs a descriptive quantitative approach using the Value Engineering framework, which consists of four stages: information, creative, analysis, and recommendation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and laboratory testing to evaluate the quality of the organic fertilizer. The research sample consisted of 3 kg of EFB mixed with supporting materials, including goat manure, fiber residue, boiler ash, and EM-4 activator. The production process involved shredding, mixing, fermentation, and maturation before testing the macronutrient content. The results showed that the organic fertilizer produced from EFB contained Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P₂O₅), and Potassium (K₂O) levels that were still below the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 2830-2024. The Value Engineering analysis produced the best alternative composition consisting of EFB, goat manure, fiber residue, boiler ash, and EM-4, which was not only cost-efficient but also provided balanced nutrient content. Therefore, utilizing EFB as an organic fertilizer can add economic value while reducing the environmental impact of palm oil industry waste. |
