Abstract: UD. UD. Motor Kuztom Binjai is a custom motorcycle modification workshop located in Sendang Rejo Village, Langkat Regency, operating in a production space measuring 8 m × 20 m. The workshop specializes in manually fabricating chopper frames based on unique customer specifications and design requirements. Prior to the adoption of the 5S concept, the physical condition and spatial organization of the workshop were not optimally managed. Tools and equipment were frequently misplaced or mixed among workstations, raw materials accumulated on the production floor without proper zoning, and essential workspace pathways were obstructed. These conditions led to inefficiencies including prolonged searching time for tools, excessive operator movement, irregular workflow patterns, and the presence of persistent non-value-added activities that impeded overall productivity. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the 5S methodology Seiri (Sort), Seiton (Set in Order), Seiso (Shine), Seiketsu (Standardize), and Shitsuke (Sustain) to improve time efficiency, workplace organization, and operational performance during the made of chopper motorcycle frames. A descriptive quantitative approach was utilized, incorporating direct observation, photographic documentation, and time study measurements conducted before and after the 5S intervention. The results demonstrate significant improvements following the structured application of 5S. Total processing time decreased, unnecessary operator motion was minimized, material flow became more orderly, and the workspace environment transformed into a cleaner, safer, and more ergonomically responsive area. These findings highlight the practical value of 5S for small and medium-scale workshops, confirming that systematic workplace organization can directly enhance productivity, safety, and process reliability.
