This study aims to analyze the influence of school climate perception on student engagement, which is mediated by peer social support among students at SMPN 2 Binjai, Kabupaten Langkat. The research method is quantitative with a path analysis model. The independent variable is School Climate Perception, the mediating variable is Peer Social Support, and the dependent variable is Student Engagement. The results show several significant findings. There is a positive and significant influence of School Climate Perception on Peer Social Support, with a path coefficient of 0.574 and a T-statistic of 11.325 (p < 0.05). This indicates that a better school climate leads to higher social support among peers. Furthermore, a positive and significant influence of Peer Social Support on Student Engagement was found, with a path coefficient of 0.430 and a T-statistic of 6.636 (p < 0.05). Another important finding is the positive and significant direct influence of School Climate Perception on Student Engagement, with a path coefficient of 0.527 and a T-statistic of 7.648 (p < 0.05). Lastly, the study confirms that peer social support significantly mediates the relationship between school climate and student engagement, with an indirect path coefficient of 0.246 and a T-statistic of 5.431 (p < 0.05). |
