The road network is a key infrastructure supporting economic growth and the distribution of goods and services. High traffic volumes often lead to a decline in road quality, impacting comfort, safety, and transportation efficiency. This study evaluated the road surface condition on Jalan Sp. Kayu Besar – Kualanamu, specifically the STA 06+000 – 09+000 segment, which experienced the highest level of damage based on visual observation. The main objective of this study was to identify the type and extent of road damage and determine the PCI (Pavement Condition Index) score. The PCI method was chosen because it provides a quantitative assessment of road conditions, with a score ranging from 0 to 100, reflecting road conditions ranging from very good to very poor. The evaluation was conducted using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method, with reference to Guidelines Pd 01-2016-B from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing. The analysis showed a PCI score of 83.80, categorized as "Very Good." However, it was found that the most prevalent type of damage was patching, with a percentage of 24.291%. As a follow-up, several maintenance methods are recommended, such as overlaying, sealing, regrooving, ripping, and pavement structural repair. Analysis of the overlay thickness design using the MDP 2024 method indicates that the optimal thickness is 60 mm. The obtained Pavement Condition Index (PCI) values do not represent the overall condition of the road section but serve only as a reference for the reviewed segment, namely STA 06+000 – 09+000. Therefore, the analysis results and recommendations should be further developed and reviewed before being used as a basis for determining the optimal road repair strategy. |
