This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and work engagement among car salespeople in Medan City. Self-efficacy is defined as an individual’s belief in their ability to face challenges and successfully perform tasks, while work engagement refers to a positive psychological state characterized by vigor, dedication, and absorption in one’s work. This research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The sample consisted of 226 respondents selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected using the Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9), both of which were tested for validity and reliability (α = 0.920 for self-efficacy and α = 0.925 for work engagement). Data analysis was conducted using the Pearson Product Moment correlation technique. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between self-efficacy and work engagement (r = 0.629; p < 0.05), with a coefficient of determination of 47.8%. This indicates that the higher an individual’s self-efficacy, the higher their level of work engagement. Descriptively, both variables were found to be in the high category, suggesting that salespeople possess strong self-confidence and high involvement in their work. These findings highlight that self-efficacy serves as an important personal resource in enhancing work engagement. |
