Hubungan antara Motivasi dan Intensitas Penggunaan Jejaring Sosial dengan Perilaku Narsistik pada Siswa Kelas XI di SMAN 1 Stabat, Kab. Langkat

Abstract

This research is motivated by the rampant use of social networking among adolescents. Research subjects are students in SMAN 1 Stabat, Kab. Langkat which amounts to 100 students representing the population class XI. In this school there is a prohibition to not bring all forms of gadgets to school. But in fact, almost every student brings and uses gadgets freely. Based on the observations and information provided by students, researchers found that there are differences in the behavior of students who actively use social networking with students who use social networking "in accordance with portions". This research uses quantitative research method with explanatory research approach. Data collection using the scale of motivation, intensity, and narcissistic with purposive sampling technique. In an effort to prove the research hypothesis, the researcher using data analysis method of Multiple Linear Regression Analysis and Descriptive Analysis in addition to give a general description of actual subject conditions. The result of data analysis with method of Multiple Linear Regression Analysis is as follows: a) Score of t-count 2.787 > t-table score 1.984 with significance coefficient 0.006 < 0.05. Thus it is stated that hypothesis 1 is accepted. b) Score of t-count 2.092 > t-table score 1.984 with correlation coefficient 0.039 < 0.05. Thus it is stated that hypothesis 2 is accepted. c) Score of F-count 4.461 > F-table 3.09 with significance coefficient 0.014 < 0.05. Thus it is stated that hypothesis 3 is accepted. d) In general, the independent variables of motivation and intensity of the use of social networks provide a relatively small effective contribution to the dependent variable of narcissistic behavior.
