This study analyzes soybean inventory control at Pak Rudi’s Tofu Factory using the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) method. The main issue is production delays caused by mismatches between stock and actual demand. Three lot sizing techniques were applied: Lot For Lot (LFL), Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), and Period Order Quantity (POQ). Results show that LFL leads to frequent orders (52 times/year) with a cost of IDR 5,200,000, while EOQ provides an optimal order of 14,000 kg with 18 orders/year at a total cost of IDR 5,300,000. POQ is the most efficient with a cost of only IDR 4,850,000. Thus, applying MRP with the right lot sizing method improves cost efficiency and operational performance, particularly for SMEs. Among the methods analyzed, POQ proves to be the most cost-effective. EOQ remains a reliable and consistent alternative, while LFL is more appropriate when the goal is to reduce holding costs, despite increased ordering frequency. Ultimately, the integration of MRP with a suitable lot sizing method can significantly improve operational performance and reduce overall inventory costs, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
