This research aims to design a cassava peeling machine that meets the emotional needs (Kansei) of users at UMKM Opak Deli to improve work efficiency and comfort. The primary issue addressed is the manual peeling process, which is physically exhausting and time-consuming. Using Kansei Engineering Type I, this study identified 8 Kansei Word variables: Easy to Use, Fast, Safe, Comfortable, Lightweight, Durable, Clean, and Innovative. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) showed a Cumulative Proportion of 98.12%, indicating very high accuracy in representing user desires. Based on the Biplot graph, Design 6 was selected as the best design due to its strong correlation with all positive Kansei variables. The Quantification Theory Type I (QT1) analysis translated these needs into physical design elements, featuring an electric motor (200W AC motor) as the automatic drive system, food-grade stainless steel material, and a rotary peeler mechanism. Although designed without a blade guard, this configuration provides maximum visibility, enhancing operator control and comfort. The transformation from a manual to an electric motor system in Design 6 is conceptually estimated to increase work efficiency significantly compared to the previous method. |
